Positions available

1. One Postdoctoral Research Associate position in experimental condensed matter physics group at UCLA is available. Applications for this position are accepted all year round. Successful candidates will join Prof. Ni Ni’s group and focus on the synthesis and characterization of materials. A combination of single crystal growth, solid state reaction, X-ray diffraction, transport and thermodynamic measurements will be involved in the research. Candidates should have strong background and substantial research experience on material systems with expertise on some of the following areas: high pressure synthesis, single crystal growth, transport/ magnetic and thermal properties measurements, crystal structure determination or measurements under pressures. Applications should include CV with a list of publications, a summary of research interests, and two reference letters.

Inquiries about these positions can be sent to Prof. Ni Ni at nini@physics.ucla.edu.

2. Graduate Research Assistant positions are available for all years. Ni’s lab focuses on the characterization of transport, thermodynamic properties and structures of material systems, such as unconventional superconductors, heavy fermion systems, low dimensional systems, materials with high thermal conductivity etc, with an emphasis on the design, synthesis and crystal growth of new materials. Graduate student fellowship is available. Highly motivated graduate students are encouraged to apply. Please send your CV to Prof. Ni Ni at nini@physics.ucla.edu

3. Undergraduate Research Assistant positions are available for all years. Undergraduates who have worked in our lab are all highly motivated and productive. By their graduation date, they have all earned publications in peer-reviewed journals, being an active part of the lab. To perform the lab work, a lot of hands-on trainings are needed in our lab. As a result, we hope undergraduate research assistants can spend two years working in the lab so that systematic research can be done and published before your graduation. Therefore, highly motivated freshmen and sophomores with GPA higher than 3.6 who are ambitious and want to pursue graduate studies are strongly encouraged to apply. Please send your CV to Prof. Ni Ni at nini@physics.ucla.edu In the CV, please use three words to describe your main character; please include your UCLA GPA, educational history, honors, previous research activity, social service and skills.
